Research Support and Educational Innovation

Research Support

With its interdisciplinary research orientation emphasizing the quantitative and molecular science of medicine and biomedical research, HST has three major research focus areas:

Educational Innovation

HST has a long and distinguished track record of innovation in interdisciplinary and inter-institutional education. Examples include:

  • BioMatrix: a mentorship program that contributes to the professional and personal growth of students with interests in the life sciences by connecting them with mentors. Currently, BioMatrix reaches more than 170 MIT undergraduates, over 70 graduate and medical students, and 70 mentors who are faculty, clinicians, researchers and professionals in industry.
  • Biomedical Enterprise Program (BEP): is a joint effort of HST and the MIT Sloan School of Management. Its fully integrated biomedical and business curricula prepare students to enter the business world in command of all the skills they'll need to evaluate, develop and commercialize products for the health care industry.
